This is a cross stitch design of the Pokemon Mistrevious. Isn't she just adorable?
I had my Mistrevious for a very long time during my Pokemon Pearl playthough and could not bear to evolve it. I even took it to the Pokemon world championships. Although I was too late to actually register for the contest there were still many players eager to trade and battle all around the event. I had my fair share of wins and losses throughout the day with my Mistrevious being present in every team combination.

For the championships I had specially bred some starters to trade with other players throughout the day and was delighted at just how many trades I made. My favourite trade was a shiny Geodude which is a cool yellow colour which makes it appear to be made from solid gold.

This is a cross stitch design of Braeburn from My little Pony friendship is Magic, He is a member of the Apple family. I guess the apple Cutie mark is a great big giveaway for that. All of the members of the Apple family seem to have something to do with applies as their Cutie mark, in fact many of them are named after varieties of apples or apple based dishes.

My Little Pony and all characters belong to Hasbro, I make not claim to these characters. This picture is fan art and is free to share with cross stitching My Little Pony fans.

Cross stitched angel cards

Cross stitched angel cards

Here are a pair of lovely angel cards I made. One for my Nan and one for my stepmum who both love angels and pretty flowers.

The patterns are from the angel Alphabet collection in the book Cross Stitch Angels: Over 30 inspirational designs

I have written a review of this book if you want to know more about it: here

I just loved the addition of the seed beads to help make the flowers and the angels crowns sparkle. In this design I used some matching seed beads from my stash but the book contains some recomendations for matching bead colours. Be prepared for the backstitch on these fairies if you wish to sew them. The facial features are made from tiny detailed backstitch and there is quite a bit of backstitch over the wings and dresses of each angel.
I mounted these stitches in a plain aperture card because these designs are detailed enough not to need lots of extra colour around the card.

Craft book review: Cross Stitch Angels: Over 30 inspirational designs

Craft book review: Cross Stitch Angels: Over 30 inspirational designs

Book Title: Cross Stitch Angels: Over 30 inspirational designs
A David & Charles book

ISBN-13: 978-0-7153-2375-5
ISBN-10: 0-7153-2375-X

In a Nutshell what is this book about?

This book as suggested by the title specialises in cross stitch designs of angels for a number of occasions. The designs are drawn by a variety of designers such as Sue Cook, Clare Crompton, Maria Diaz, Joan Elliot, Helen Phillips and Lesley Teare. This gives a wide variety of styles to choose from.

Who is this book for?

I would recommend this book for intermediate and above cross stitchers, Many of the designs in this book are quite large and detailed so could take a while to sew. The smaller card sized designs can include some fairly detailed backstitch and the inclusion of seed beads and charms. This creates some very beautiful designs but needs a little bit of skill to pull off just right.
While I would not call this a perfect 'first book of cross stitch' for those picking up the craft I'm certainly finding it a worthwhile addition to my book collection.

What is included in this book?

As mentioned before the charts in this book are all angel themed. Each design is represented with a large enough grid that I did not have to use my magnifier at all. The charts have coloured blocks with symbols only when similar shading colours are used so they are very easy to read.
There are a variety of occasions represented too such as Birthday angels for each month, Christmas cards featuring gold metallic thread and an absolutely gorgeous wedding design featuring an angel in a flowing wedding gown. This design makes me wish I was a faster stitcher I doubt I'd get this one done in time for a wedding. (maybe I can make it in advance)
With each set of designs there are suggestions on how to turn your stitching into items such as pin cushions, cards and wall hangings. As a cute bonus throughout the book are short but sweet angel quotes from proverbs to philosophy. Do you think anyone will notice if I used some of these in my next set of cards? I don't think I'll be stuck for the perfect thing to write in an angel themed card again.

My favourite project

Without a doubt my favourite project in this book is the Victorian angels A-Z. I started a few of these as cards when I felt like a challenge with backstitch and beads One thing I like is that each angel in the alphabet is different. In some alphabets I find if a motif is repeated on too many letters some names or phrases can end up repetitive but with this one you only need to take care for words with repeated letters but its not too hard to replace one angel for another or change the colour of the hair and dresses in these designs.

I made up a couple of the Angel cards for my Nan and Stepmum if you want to take a peek I have posted them here: http://buzybobbins.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/cross-stitched-angel-cards.html

Pikachu - Pokemon cross stitch design

This is a design of the lovely Pikachu from Pokemon. Many of the cross stitch designs I have found online are of Pikachus being cute and while thats really lovely I thought I'd do something different.
So in this picture Pikachu is doing a charge attack I did not base it on any one in particular but I would like to think its a volt tackle. Hes got quite a determined look on his face and looks like the attack is just about to make contact. Hes just got to jump or lean into a slam move from this pose.

Heres a link to my favorite super cute Pikachu cross stitch design: Link
