Simple scary skull cross stitch for Halloween Trick or Treat bags

Simple scary skull cross stitch for Halloween Trick or Treat bags

Hello everyone,

Heres a design for a simple yet scary skull for your trick or treat bag this year. This could make a rather spooky treat bag to compliment a skeleton costume. If you are running low on time to stitch this it can be stitched on white adia so only the black stitches need to be sewn.If you'd rather stitch on black aida make the outlines in a different colour to match your costume.

Alternately why not stitch this and place it inside a ornate black frame to place upon the mantlepiece next to your other decorations as an awesome handmade touch.

If you are feeling creative this design is simple enough to use as a base for a sugar skull design. Just add your own colours and motifs. There are loads of of sugar skull design inspiration online but trust me you can spend hours looking and just find so many different ideas.

Hello everyone,

Today I thought I'd share a super cute toy unicorn cross stitch design. This design will be perfect for the bedroom of a unicorn loving kid since you can never have enough unicorns for a real fan.

Please feel free to change the colours of the unicorn to any you feel would look nice together. This is not a particular character so no specific colours are needed. The mane can be as bright and colourful as you like or more natural shades for a lighter look.

Hello everyone,
Today is a simple design of a small pink birthday cake. This is a design I just grabbed some threads and a tiny scrap of left over Aida and tried to see what I could make. Since the design was meant to be for a birthday card I though a small simple birthday cake would be ideal.

Heres a pic of the finished design:

The rose was a tiny motif from Donna Kooler's 555 Cross stitch designs for the young at heart. Its a brilliant book by the way if you are ever looking for a new book for your cross stitch designs.

The heart in the square is in the same book, a small part of a larger design. I changed the colours to match the pink theme. Then added a nice happy birthday sticker match the silver metallic threads.
Though I really dislike stitching with metallic threads its rather fiddily and the thread likes to split apart as you sew. However you can't deny that the end result is so pretty.

Hello everyone,

Its been a while since I posted, unfortunately work and other life matters had taken up most of the time I would spend cross stitch designing. So heres a cross stitch design of a pair of seahorses for all of you now I finally found one evening to sit down and draw.

While researching seahorse I found that some species can come in a lovely shade of orange but also shades of yellow, blues and purples. So I decided to mix up a vibrant shade of blue with the orange in this design. Since seahorses can be such a vibrant animal and come in so many variations this design can be stitched in such a variety of colours you can pick your favourites for it.

So this is a nice easy stitch for the end of summer. One of the seashorses from the pair could be used on its own for a smaller stitch or swap out the second seahorse for a collection of your favourite sea themed motifs. I may try it out with a few colourful seashells or some small tropical fish.

Hello everyone,

Today I though I'd share a a colourful thank you card aimed at teachers or artists. The colourful pencil design is sure to bring some smiles.

Of course you are welcome to change the colours of the pencils to any colour embroidery thread you think would suit. Maybe pick a thread which is the teachers favourite? Just make sure the colour you choose for the lettering stands out over the top of which ever thread colour you choose.

If you don't fancy making a card why not pop this on a band on a simple pot to create a colourful and personal pen holder.

Much love and happy stitching

Hello everyone,
Its a suprisingly sunny week this week so I thought I'd draw a nice cooling ice cream sundae. Oh man I really want an ice cream now but no I must resist I am trying to get a beach body!

Oh what the hey, my beach body can just be however I enter the beach. I mean I will be a body on the beach, it doesn't matter what size it is (unless I guess I take up the entire beach which I think is impossible) Im sure a few ice creams won't make THAT much of a difference right?

I wish cross stitching burned a whole bunch of calories. If it did I'd be a supermodel by now! tee hee

Facebook page spotlight - CS Love freebies source for free cross stitch designs

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post today I'd like to give a shout out to the Facebook Group CS Loves freebies

Heres a link

This is a really useful page for cross stitchers on a budget. The page is regularly updated with links to pages where free cross stitch designs can be found. From freebies offered by big name designs to blogs like this one where designers post their designs for free. There is no particular theme so you can find a little bit of all themes posted up there.

Its a great page to flick through for links to a variety of designs and to keep popping back to for inspiration. You can follow the page for notifications of updates but since its a public page you can just pop over there and take a peek whenever you are looking for a new design to start on.

Much love and happy stitching

Fidget spinner cross stitch design

Fidget spinner cross stitch design

Hello everyone,

There are no suggestions for thread colours on this one because it is designed to be sewn in any colour you feel like. If you are sewing it for a fidget spinner loving friend why not use a thread that matches their favourite spinner.

This design is the right side for a card but could be used for a pouch for a fidget spinner if you have some matching material for the back of the pouch to put it all together.

Not heard of a fidget spinner? They are devices which have surged in  popularity over 2017 (though they were invented much earlier) They are devices which spin on ball bearings to help people with anxiety to focus on something other than the thing which is making them anxious. It is also used for children with Autism or ADHD and provides something to focus on.

Cute red fox cross stitch design

Cute red fox cross stitch design

Colour Anchor Thread numbers
Orange 316

Hello everyone,

Today I'd like to share a cute red fox design, this will make a nice easy stitch if you like to fill in a whole lot of one colour. I am unsure if this design may need two skiens of orange but I may just stock up anyway. You can never have enough threads, right?
I'd make this as a awesome cushion suitable for a modern styled room or for a animal loving person to have in their room. (in my case it would be among the dozen fox plush I have)

When I have a design with a very large area to fill I sometimes like to experiment with Variegated threads, it makes the whole stitch very interesting as you just never know exactly how its going to turn out until you are all done. Best of all if someone else tries the same pattern and same threads your stitch will still be totally unique since verigated threads never turn out the same way twice.

Much love and happy stitching

Birthday cake - card sized cross stitch design

Birthday cake - card sized cross stitch design

Hello everyone,
I have been wracking my brains this week for the perfect design to stitch for Birthday cards. I wanted something which wasn't too hard to sew but still looked very impressive since I'll have to stitch a few at once for my families Birthdays which fall close together.

However when I got down to designing I just went crazy with half stitches. I mean don't those candles and that fancy cake stand look great? However if you find half stitches a little daunting you can avoid several of them by stitching the candle in one colour and squaring off most of the half stitches in the base (or leaving off the base to stitch just the cake)

The blue icing is a reference to my friends favourite colour so I wanted to include it somewhere on the design I sew for her. However the icing can be swapped out for any colour you think will look nice, White, pink or yellow are quite traditional icing colours but with the range of food colourings available practically any shade of thread would work.

I may have to re-use the cross stitch design for this cake base, perhaps make it a little fancier and add a wedding style cake instead of a birthday cake. Lets see what I can come up with for this :)

Much love and happy stitching
Gemma xx

Hello everyone,
I got a little bit peckish and decided to draw a delicious summer treat for you all.
What better to have on a warm summers day than a cool milkshake topped off with ice cream and a wafer. This is something that you would find at a beach side cafe to sip while under a beach umbrella.I may have to pack myself a nice cross stitch kit to work on while i enjoy the sunshine this year. I look out of the window and hope for some but its been raining all week :(

Feel free to change up the scoops of ice cream to represent your favourite flavours. Its as simple as picking a skien of embroidery thread which reminds you most of that flavour and swapping it out.

Anyway I hope you enjoy this design
Much love and happy stitching.
