Whole stitches only alphabet for bold impact - cross stitch design

Hello everyone,

Today I have a bold cross stitch alphabet for use in your designs. Theres no colour recommendation for this one since you can use your own choice of colours to match. Also it is up to you if you want to fill in the gaps in the letters. I left them plain and unstitched here but they can be filled in with the main colour for a really bold line or filled in with a complementary colour.

I started this alphabet from one word used in a Christmas design (which I will be posting nearer the time) I just love the way the letters where looking in that one word so decided just to see how the whole alphabet would look.

I hope you have fun with this alphabet should you decide to use it.

Here is a cross stitched alphabet made of big bold letters, theres no thread colour suggestion as this can be sewn in any colour that will match the design its being paired with. 

This design would be nice on big bold signs, maybe a nice snarky comment design?

Hello everyone,

Today I have a nice easy Alphabet for you, its made to be really bold and clear, when stitched in a nice bright colour it will be great for a children's wall hanging or door sign

I used this font on a design called "Sprouts! Just say no!" because I needed something to really convey the seriousness of the statement.

Hello everyone,
Today heres something a little different, a large bold alphabet made to look like bubbles.

If you wanted you could change up the colours from blue to make the alphabet look like balloons, just add a little backstitch string to the bottom of the letters to complete the effect.

This design would be brilliant to use in a bathroom sign which makes it feel just like a lovely luxurious bubble bath. Alternatively something simple and summer themed as bubbles always remind me of blowing bubbles in the garden on hot summer days.

This chart was originally designed in Anchor threads and converted to DMC

In preparation for the spooky night of Halloween heres a Halloween themed pumpkin alphabet. This set of letters is designed to look like it is carved out of pumpkins. Some of the letters are slightly off center to give the impression of hand carved pumpkins. I have also included a plain pumpkin which would look sweet on a simple cross stitched card.

The letters within the pumpkins can also be sewn in black as if the candle inside the pumpkin has been blown out. In yellow it looks like there is a lit candle inside the pumpkin.

Happy new year - Whole stitches only Alphabet in a single colour

This is a cross stitch alphabet which uses whole stitches only and only one colour. Though you are welcome to mix up the colours a bit or add a different colour into the white spaces but thats up to all you fabulously creative stitchers.
I drew this originally to help design a large Happy New Year sign including big chunky letters which could also be added to bunting should a matching set be required. I have a friend who needs to stitch for every occasion and wanted to forfill her request with something very simple so she wouldn't be stitching all the way into January.

I created this alphabet to make a bold impact on my stitching. This set of letters is very well suited to be sewn in bright and bold colours or perhaps sew the full stitches and the back stitches in different complementary colours. You will need to leave plenty of space if you want to write long words.

I would recomend sewing the backstitch with two strands of thread rather than one to make them bolder and more suited to sitting with the full crosses. If the backstitch is too thin it may get lost under all if your other lovely stitches.

This is a big backstitch alphabet for when you have lots of space to fill but don't want the letters to be as large as full crosses.
This alphabet can look great in any colour. What is great about such a simple style is that you can use it on a variety of projects as long as you have the space. My favourite use for large letters is initials on wedding samplers and birthday cards. It really helps to personalise the design to let the person you are giving it to know you made it just for them.

This is the full alphabet to go with the Futurama Fry meme cross stitch design I posted a while back.

So heres the whole alphabet so that you can make your own captions for a large meme cross stitch. It is inspired by the font which is normally used for memes which is why it has a bold black outline. I did not directly convert the font because when I tried it looked terrible in stitches so thought an original inspired font would be far nicer and easier to read.

 This is a whole Easter egg Alpabet design. Below I have also added all of the eggs without letters if you wanted to use your own Alphabet with them or just change the colours around.

My friends and I want to stitch a whole bunch of Coloured eggs on plastic canvas and add a bright ribbon to each one and use them for a lovely egg hunt all around the garden. We were going to use tiny chocolate eggs but my friends new terrier cute though she is would eat them all before the kids even got there. We are going to use the cross stitched eggs as tokens to swap for sweetie eggs so we can keep the sweets safely out of the way of dogs and perhaps an overly enthusiastic Easter Egg hunter.

This is a big bold alphabet for when you want to make your cross stitched letters to make an impact. This is really useful for larger projects where you have the space or for individual letters in a card.

I like to use bold capital letters for children's cross stitch because its easy for them to read and recognise each cross stitched letter which is brilliant for their learning as well as a lovely picture.

Fancy alphabet cross stitch design

This is a small yet fancy cross stitched font.
I have left all the letters in black so that the design can be easily seen. However if you wish to use these on a piece of your own you should pick a colour which you think would look great on the finished item. I am going to use this font with another small picture to make a baby sampler which I will post up soon.

These letters are whole stitches only so can be used by any level of stitcher.
This font has been designed to be pretty and readable. Haven't you ever found that some fancy letters can be unreadable at first glance. For a baby sampler you defiantly want to ensure the name is readable particularly because a young child may have this up in their room. (and perhaps like my nephew start copying the letters from it)

Edit: Just recently I noticed that Amy at the wonderful blog Positively Splendid has used this alphabet for one of her Christmas design projects.

Plus it gives some very useful advice on spacing and planning your alphabets so that it fits just right on the fabric for your project.

This is an idea I had the other day to make a alphabet sampler with few main colours.
The blue and green can we switched for other favourite colours depending on your preference.
I have also left a little gap here so that a name or 'now I know my ABCs won't you come and play with me?' can be added there.
