Colour DMC Number Anchor Number

White 5200 1
Blue 3753 1031

This design was originally designed in Anchor colours, for a closest match to the Picture use Anchor, a conversion chart was used for DMC.

Hello everyone, This Months Zodiac cross stitch design is for Libra. A Libra Birthday falls between September 23 - October 22 so this should give you plenty of time to stitch this design up for a lucky Libra friend or relative. This design is just the right size for a large card or perhaps added to a cushion as a nice present.

Libra is an air sign. People who are within the air element are known to be intelligent and great at communication. They can also be seen as happy - go - lucky with a zest for life, I bet people in air signs really love to celebrate their birthday in style.
I represented the tranquillity of the air sign with the calming blue colour and the tendency to be creative amongst air signs with the light swirls.

Small backstitch flower motif - Card sized cross stitch design.

Small backstitch flower motif - Card sized cross stitch design.

Hello everyone,

Today is a teeny experiment in designing something with backstitch only. Its a simple flower for cards or tiny motifs. There are no colour recommendations since you can simply pick the colour you like the best to sew this one in.

A few of these flowers in a row could make a nice chunky boarder for other sewn pieces, I think next I'll try and use this little flower as a corner for a boarder and see how that turns out. If it looks nice and I think that somebody may want to stitch it I'll post it up here. :)

Ice cream cone with heart decoration - Summer fun cross stitch design

Ice cream cone with heart decoration - Summer fun cross stitch design

A lovely chocolate ice cream cone.

Colour Where is it used Anchor Thread numbers
Dark brown Outlines 358
Brown Chocolate sauce 1049
Red Heart decoration 46
White Sauce on top of cone 2

Hello everyone,

I thought I would continue with the theme of ice creams since its still the Summer Holidays here in the UK. Its been great weather for walks and I have noticed the ice cream vans out in full force.

This particular ice cream is chocolate but you can simply swap out the colours, perhaps a nice green for mint ice cream or a lovely pink for strawberry ice cream.

I think this design would look brilliant on a summer fun bag for pic nics or beach trips or even on a t shirt. Though be careful not to spill your summer ice cream on your nice stitching. :)

Artist spotlight: Zukiestyle - Beautifully bespoke fashion and pet accessories

Artist spotlight: Zukiestyle - Beautifully bespoke fashion and pet accessories

Hello everyone,
Last weekend I went to Newark Comicon and discovered the stall of Zukiestyle who makes lovely handmade pet fashion items and has a whole load of dog and cat themed accessories for the owners too!

This is a few of the many bandanas which Zukiestyle had available at their stall. Its worth noting that the bandanas some in a range of sizes so that you can find one which can fit the smallest puppy or cat to the largest breed of dog.

Why not make your pet your cosplay companion with these superhero themed Bandanas?
I'd like to make a little note on the accuracy and neatness of all of the symbols which are stitched on to the bandanas. Each one is beautiful work and there is no mistaking what each symbol is meant to be.

If your pet does not like to wear a full bandana Zukiestyle also has a range of collars in a variety of themes so you can pick the one you'd like your pet to help you support. I'm actually very fond of the My little Pony collars. :)

Do you love Pokemon Go and take your best friend pooch to help catch Pokemon?
Why not let your dog share the Pokemon love with this Pokeball bandana?
So if you can't catch them all you can at least take your stylish dog out on a Pokemon walk. I'm sure all dogs are appreciating the Pokemon Go craze right now. Even if they have no idea what Pokemon are I bet they are all loving the walks they are all getting.

Why not go for these super cute doggy toys and cushions? In fact I wonder if these come in sofa cushion size so I can show my love for all things canine on my sofa.

Zukiestyle even has some lovely plush models for their bandanas so you can have an idea of  how they will look on your own dog. I just love this little chap, he looks so very cheeky peeking over the edge of one of the displays like a guard dog.

If you don't have a dog or cat of your own but still love them why not check out Zukiestyles range of mugs and coasters? They come in a variety of breeds and styles so pick the doggy you love the best!

Anyway I hope Y'all check out Zukiestles web pages for some awesome dog themed creations

Hello Everyone
Recently I went to Skegness comicon and while it was only a small event with a few guests loads of people showed up for the day. After visiting the Convention I decided to walk along the beach and visit the Arcades.
Of course this gave me a few ideas for Sea side themed cross stitch designs but I really wanted to start off with some tasty ice cream since it was such a hot day that a scoop or two was definitely appreciated.

Zodiac cross stitch design - Virgo August 23 - September 22

Zodiac cross stitch design - Virgo August 23 - September 22

Colour DMC Number Anchor Number
Black 310 403
Green 702 239
White 5200 1
Brown 3371 382

This design was originally designed in Anchor colours, for a closest match to the Picture use Anchor, a conversion chart was used for DMC.

Virgo is an Earth sign so I represented this with a mountain motif and green/ brown colours. The mountains help to symbolize how people in Earth star signs are said to be dependable and stable. The colours convey the Earth signs tendency to be grounded. After reading up on the qualities typically shown in an Earth sign it seems that they will make good friends with the only commonly noted weakness being a tendency for greed, so just keep the cookie jar away from those earth signs huh?

Although Virgo birthdays do not start until the end of the month I am posting this up nice and early to give anyone who would like to stitch it lots of time to get started. This would make a nice card to celebrate a birthday. I have one friend who is considering sewing one of the zodiac signs I've been posting on the back of her jacket. I love this idea and may have to look into doing one of my own. :D

Much Love and happy stitching
Gemma x

Cosplays spotted at MCM London Expo May 2016 - Part 2

Cosplays spotted at MCM Londom Expo May 2016 - Part 2

Hello everyone,
I had a wonderful time at the May 2016 London Comicon and too LOADS of photos of many of the lovely cospayers that I met throughout the weekend. I have already made a small compilation of photos taken at the event, find the link here:
http://buzybobbins.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/cosplays-spotted-at-mcm-london-expo-may.html

However there were just too many amazing cosplays for just one post so here we go again with another collection of superb cosplays for your enjoyment.

BB8 gijinka - From Star wars

This cosplayer has gone the extra mile by having her BB8 umbrella match her beautifully detailed dress. If you are not sure who this cosplay is this cosplayer has helpfully worn a wonderfully detailed BB8 hat complete with sensors and antenna.

Emily from The Corpse bride

I was wonderfully fortunate to catch this cosplayer while a breeze was blowing so her lovely shawl elegantly trailed behind her as she posed.
The skeletal arm is actually from a skeleton used for teaching anatomy. This is a practical approach to this characters skeletal features without having to hide the cosplayers own arm. I have seen a couple sversions of this cosplay where the real arms hidden within the dress but due to the nature of this wedding dress (no extra fabric to hide the arm it looks a little unusual.
I admire this cosplayers detail in dying the fabric, a light fade like this is very hard to but and even more difficult to turn into a working costume but the colour is just right for the character and the fade within the costume particularly the skirt is accurate.

Witch Bandora and Yellow Ranger Power Rangers

I was super impressed by the costumes of this pair of cosplayers that come straight from the power rangers series.
The Witch Bandora is a notable villain in the Power Rangers series whose appearances cover 50 episodes which is an awful lot of time for a villain to put their plans into action.

If you take a look at the Witch Bandora costume you can see that an awful lot of detail has been put into every piece of the outfit, from the sewn areas to the foam making up details and the very impressive staff. I was concerned that the staff was actually quite heavy considering the size but this cosplayer assured me that the looks were deceptive and it wasn't so heavy considering she had been carrying it about all day.

For more information about this character there's a detailed page on the power rangers wiki here:
http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/Witch_Bandora

Toriel and Muffet from Undertale

I found these lovely and enthusiastic cosplayers at the Undertale cosplay meet up.

I love this version of Toriel, while some cosplayers used masks to make her snout this cosplayer used a subtle effect of the black face paint under the nose to give the same effect. It was quite a hot day at the convention so I'd also like to applaud both of these cosplayers for keeping their face paint intact all through to the afternoon when this picture was taken.

One big challenge for Muffet cosplayers is that she has 6 arms because she is based off a spider. I'd like to take a moment to point out the colouration on this particular Muffets arms, it looks like care was taken to make sure that all of the arms matched so at first glance you couldn't be sure which is the real one.

A big well done for both cosplayers in this picture, while there were loads of Undertale cosplayers and everyone used their own unique take on the characters I was especially fond of the details on these versions. :)

A Titan from Attack on Titan

This is such an amazing cosplay of a Titan from Attack on Titan bursting through a wall and peeking through the breach. Don't worry though, the wall prop comes complete with a little member of the Survey Corps swinging in to save the day.
The cosplayer actually spent the day hidden behind this wall prop which looked like it got in the way a little bit.

Trolls from Homestuck

Here's a close up of a bigger picture (see below) of when I found the Homestuck meet up, even though the comic has ended the Fandom and the fans enthusiasm for the show is still huge. There were so many Trolls, either characters taken straight from the show and after a few conversations I found there were a few fan made troll characters in the mix too. This meet up was great fun with cosplayers singing songs from the show and enacting scenes from the animations.

And here's the whole Homestuck meet up, there are so many fans here and so many awesome costumes. At one point everyone in the crowd just started singing a song from the comic. That's one of the things I love about cosplay meetups, you get the opportunity to meet so many fans, so many great cosplays and often songs, dances and re-enacting favourite scenes. (this very much happened at last years My Little Pony meet up)

Anyway that's all the cosplay pictures I have for now, I took loads more photos but I must get back to posting more cross stitch designs.

Much love and Happy stitching - Se y'all at next years May MCM comicon!
