Hello everyone. This is a cross stitch design of Excel from Excel Saga
I chose to do this design after digging out an old denim jacket I had tried to embroider on with this exact picture. Its been in my cupboard for so long that it doesn't fit me any more.
However I still LOVE Excel Saga and want to show everyone this new design for the Excel Saga jacket (2nd try). Its only about 10 years after I started the first one.

For anyone who hasn't seen it Excel Saga it is a rather random and energetic Anime based on a manga comic written and illustrated by Rikdo Koshi. The author appears in every episode and declares what type of story it will be this time. It ranges from Horror and sci fi to a really cool Micky take of 90s western animation. (this episode is awesome) Then the characters have to carry out that episodes story within the confines of the new genre leading to certain hilarity each time. In addition this anime is very self aware and it plays with themes common in anime as well as this episodes genre.

This was actually the first Anime I really watched which wasnt one of the common kids shows around in the 90s. (like Pokemon) I knew very little of the tropes they were referencing and several references to other popular anime and manga flew right over my head at the time. However I still thoroughly enjoyed it and once Excel Saga started me on the path of being an anime fan I came back to it once in a while able to appreciate even more of the jokes, references and subtle nods to other media making this a series that many anime fans should at least try.

This anime does contain loads of specifically Japanese references but on the DVDs there is a cultural reference mode where a small pop up appears throughout each episode to explain references either to Japanese culture, media or subtleties in language which may not be apparent in the direct translation.This is a really cool feature to turn on while watching the series a second time. It'll really give you a few 'Oh so thats what that was' moments as well as a whole new bunch of laughs as a few more jokes just click into place. I also learnt a few things about Japanese culture along the way.
In addition on the DVD I owned there were two sets of English translations, one direct and one which is more tailored to a western audience. This means that some jokes are told in rather different ways in each of the sets of subtitles making it yet another way to rewatch the series (and like I need any more excuses to get out this set of DVDs)

Hello everyone,

Its been a cold, cold week and I have not enjoyed the journey to and from work due to being bundled up in my scarf gloves and coat and still getting chilly. So I thought to distract myself from the cold I would draw someone else all bundled up.
I think this girl looks like she is waiting for someone to show up otherwise she would be quickly heading away somewhere nice and warm.

This design is a little more detailed than cross stitches I normally draw. It was a nice challenge to do. If these harder designs prove popular I'll work on some more designs with a little more detail and colour threads to add nice shading.

This is a cross stitch design for Chobits. Please stop reading if you havn't watched it all yet *spoiler alert*

This picture is inspired by the scene where Chi meets her sister Freya. I think it was so touching how Freya kisses her on the cheek although it comes off as a little sinister when you see the events of the very last episode of the anime. I have not yet read all of the manga so perhaps that has a different ending.

Below is a symbol chart because this design is a little complicated so this may be needed. But first a colour chart for the design. The black and white symbol chart leaves off the blue area in the design. It is meant to be a background so you can either sew on blue aida or just leave the background whatever colour aida you have.
This design has only 10 colours. I simplified it as much as I could to allow it to be easier to sew. In addition it only has whole stitches so no worrying about any halves or french knots with this one.

This is a Cross stitch design of several characters from Pom Poko. In this scene they are happily singing about food to keep their minds off the current situation but I shall not say any more to avoid too many spoilers

The above is the design without the grid. It is such a large design that I think that a overview of the design was needed.
I tried to reduce the design to as few shades of brown/grey as I could so in some cases the colours of the characters are slightly off as I tried not to use new shades for each character instead reusing as many as I could.

This is a cross stitch design of Sumomo from the anime Chobits. Sumomo is an adorable little Persocom. A Persocom is a computer which is in the shape of a person since she is so small she has the processing power of a small computer or netbook rather than the higher processing power of the larger human sized computers.
Sumomo is not only adorable in looks but in personality too. She is cheerful, energetic and occasionally plays a very small instrument as an alarm which is so cute.

If you havn't heard of this show it is a highly recomended anime to watch. It is available on youtube for free if you want to try it out. There are only 24 episodes so it won't be hard to get through like some of the multiseason epic animes about (thinking of Dragonball Z here with 291 episodes and 16 films!)

I just love Cardcaptors. One day I want to make this particular outfit as a cosplay but for now I shall just be happy with a cross stitch design instead.
