Hello everyone
This is a large design based on the new Doctor who intro. They made a new intro sequence for the new doctor Peter Capaldi. I think this new sequence is fabulous. Of course they could not keep the intro from the previous series because it was very representative of the Tardis getting beat up in the midsts of time and space which leads to Matt Smiths doctor regeneration and has not as much relevance to the new season.

I have already had several friends asking me to sew this for them. One of my friends wants this as a large totebag to take her university books to class and another friend wants this as a hanging for his door with his name underneath it. Ok so hes 24 but I guess you are never too old for a door sign. :)

This is a background pony from the show My little Pony: Friendship is Magic who many fans pointed out looks a little bit like David Tennant as Doctor Who. This is backed up by the fact that his Cutie mark is an hourglass meaning that his super special talent may have something to do with time. This is confirmed in the My Little Pony mobile game as his discription is 'Dr. Hooves keeps Ponyville's clocks in sync, sets the hourglass for cider competitions, and takes care of all things timey-wimey.'
Timey-Wimey is an obvious reference to David Tennants Doctor as this phrase is seen in the episode 'Blink' in the following quote: 'People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big bowl of wibbly wobbly timey wimey... stuff.'

In one episode this character makes an appearance as a pegisis which some think may be a new form after a regeneration but in all fairness it could have simply been the reusing of a background character in a scene where lots of pegisis where needed. But you can always decide for yourself if you view the episodes for example 'Sonic Rainboom' where

Hello cross stitchers. Who is looking forward to the 50th anniversary Doctor Who special? Theres a bit of buzz about it amongst my friends. Its also available in the cinema to view on the big screen. That must be one serious episode to warrant this. :)

So because I couldn't stop looking up the various Doctor Who trailers for this episode I decided to take a break by drawing the Tardis. This design is easily cushion sized and contains only whole stitches (so not tricky backstitch or half stitches to trouble you). When stitching this you will want to make sure you have plenty of the blue thread, it fills quite a large area and you wouldn't want to run out part way.

This design was drawn to be simple to sew maybe I'll draw another design with more details but a few more complicated stitches involed or maybe an itty bitty Tardis for cards. I'd love to send a Doctor Who themed birthday card to my friend who is a really big fan of the show.

This design is fan art to share with other Cross stitching Doctor Who fans. I claim no rights to the characters or show as it belongs to the BBC.

Classic Doctor Who logo cross stitch design

Hello everyone

Today I'll post an update to this cross stitch design. (March 2019). I have made a colour design and one in shades of blue to show the version which is shown in the fourth Doctors show intro

Heres the colour version:

And the blue version:

In case anyone is stitching the old version please find it here:

I'm showing my age here but I remember running to find the best place on the sofa when I saw this come on.

I was never scared of the old Dr Who, my Dad always explained how the special effects were done.
However in the new series I must admit the weeping angels really got me. Coo I almost fell of my chair in fright that episode.

This design is one of a couple I'm considering for another Dr Who mad friend. Will post more when I'm done.

Dr Who logo cross stitch design

Here is a Cross stitch design for the 12th doctors logo.

I am a big, big fan of Doctor Who so when given a challenge of making a large logo I could not resist.
I decided to leave this as a plain blue sketch to make it easier for beginner cross stitchers to make.

This design is 80 x 113 stitches so on 14 or lower stitch count the design will be quite large but possibly a suitable size for a cushion. I am going to be turning this into a small cushion to rest my aching wrists on after a long afternoon of cross stitching.

The logo used in the show and on the BBC website looks metallic and shiny. The easiest way to replicate this in this pattern is to use variegated thread (the thread that changes colour along its length) It is most suited to the blue and white or different shades of blue. This will help simulate the shiny blue of the logo without having to copy a very complicated chart. Alternatively you could leave this as a plain blue colour which still looks really nice and recognisable to fans.

Another cool trick would be to use metallic or a strand of metallic and a strand of glow in the dark thread together for the shape on top which represents the light on top of the Tardis. This will give it a shiny effect and make it stand out.

I am working on other cross stitch designs for Dr who and other favourite Science fiction shows. Pop back if you would like to see some more.
