The page is trying to get 10k likes by the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon so why not pop over and give them a thumbs up? I have been loving all of the cute Mimikku artwork on my news feed every day it's been inspiring me to have a go at drawing Mimikyu some friends. :)

Mimikkyu is a newly announced Pokemon which is currently taking the internet by storm so I thought I'd draw a little cross stitch design based on the first official artwork. If you have already checked that out you may notice that this picture has far less shades of yellow-grey than the original, it seems in that picture the Pokemon is affected by a light source which is not clear in the final picture. So I decided to make this design a flat colour to make it easier to sew. As there are very few official sources for this Pokémon at the moment I made a best guess with the colour but as more official drawings come out we may see this Pokémon shown as a different shade. So when that happens feel free to swap out my suggested thread number for something a little more suitable if you like. :)

Mimikkyu is a small Pokémon whose body is hidden under a veil. Only its beady black eyes are visible through holes in the body of its disguise. Its true appearance is unknown, but the veil it wears resembles a Pikachu. The cloth itself is yellow with black tipped ears. The face consists of black eyes, red cheeks, and a squiggly black mouth that appear to be drawn with crayons. It also carries a small stick resembling a lightning bolt to create a tail for its costume.

Hello everyone,

This week my Facebook has been filled with pictures and posts all about Pokemon Go, with all my friends choosing a side to capture Pokemon Gyms. 

I have not yet gotten the game since its not available in the UK at the moment and I am waiting for the official release so I am still to choose a side. However I wanted to do some designs for the teams to put on my Pokemon Go bag. The bag will include some snacks, some sunscreen (yep I live in the UK so there isn't much sun but I can get sunburn on a cloudy day) and a generous bottle of water to keep me going.

How to make a Squirtle Squad decoration - Christmas bauble upcycling

Hello everyone,
Today I will be showing you how to turn an old Christmas bauble into a cool Squirtle Squad decoration. I know this tutorial comes a little late for Christmas but you don't have to put this particular decoration on the Christmas tree since it can be used any time.

For those who don't know the Squirtle Squad are a gang of hooligan Squirtle shown in the episode 'Here comes the Squirtle Squad' They wear glasses and cause trouble. I can't help finding these guys adorable particularly when the Squirtles later become fire fighters.

What you will need:
A Christmas bauble
Some black or blue scrapbooking foam
Black, white and pink acrylic paint (also blue if your bauble is not already blue)
String or ribbon
Craft glue
Paint sealant spray (optional)

Step 1:
If your bauble is already blue skip this step. If it is not you will need to get your blue acrylic pant and cover it all over. I find it helps to place the bauble in a egg cup to keep it still while you paint it. A freshly painted bauble rolling over your table is sure to make a mess.
Allow your bauble to dry thoroughly.

Step 2:
Pick which of the Squirtle Squad members you want to make and cut out the shape of the glasses out of your scrapbooking foam. Here I have made the leaders glasses in black but its just as east to do the normal squad members glasses with two circles of blue foam.

Note: Keep in mind the size of the bauble you intend to use when deciding how big the glasses should be. The bigger the bauble the bigger the glasses to make them in proportion to the bauble. If you are unsure what will look right try a few test shapes out of paper before cutting the foam.

Here I'm making the leader of the Squirtle Squad so used the shape of his pointed glasses.

Step 3:
Now we are going to include the shine on the glasses.
Use your white acrylic paint  to paint the stripes on the glasses for the leader or the circles included on the glasses on the rest of the squad. Be sure to take a look at a reference picture of your chosen Squirtle for an idea of placement.

Note: Some types of foam can absorb paint a little. If you find that the stripes are not as prominent as you'd like them to be just pop on another coat of paint to help them stand out.

Step 4:
After ensuring your original coat of blue paint is dry. Next its time to paint on the mouth and nose.
Take a look at the following reference picture for an idea of the mouth shape. I found it easiest to paint on the black first then fill in the pink for the tongue after the black paint as dried.
The nose is just two little dashes above the mouth in black paint.

Note: As before to keep your bauble stable it can help to place it in a cup or egg cup to stop it rolling around.

Step 5:(optional)
Once your paint has fully dried you can optionally use paint sealant spray according to the packet instructions. This will help stop the paint from chipping off if the bauble is dropped or handled but if its only going to be hanging up you may be fine not using it.

Step 6:
The last step after everything is dry, Paint, and sealant spray if you used it. is to glue on the glasses above the painted mouth and nose.
Hold it in place until the glue gets tacky then leave it to dry before hanging your new decoration up.

So there we have it an idea to make a lovely deocration based on one of my all time favourite episodes of the Pokemon cartoon. I hope you all enjoy making this one as much as I did.

How to make a Pokemon Gastly Halloween decoration

Hello everyone,
Heres another idea on how to use up your old and worn Christmas baubles

I'm trying something a little different with this tutorial by providing a drawn painting diagram instead of just photographs to help make everything really clear, Please feel free to let me know in the comments what instructions you prefer.

What you will need:
Old Purple or black baubles (depends on what Pokemon generation you want your Gastly to be from, they started out black but have become purple over the course of the games)
Arcylic paint
Paintbrushes - you will need at least one thin one for the details.
Netting In purple or blue if your Gastly is the shiny version.
Strong craft glue
Paint sealant spray (optional)

Before you start:
Get your bauble and make sure theres no excess dust or dirt on it, a quick wipe will do for most baubles which have been in storage and are just a bit dusty. Don't forget to pop some paper under your painting area to avoid accidental mess.

Step 1:
Place your bauble in a suitably sized cup so that you can paint on it without it rolling away. If your cups are too big I found that placing tissue in the bottom of a cup can help keep the bauble steady.

Now as shown on the diagram below use white paint to paint on the eyes and a dusky pink paint to draw a nice wide grin. Let the paint dry.

Step 2:
Use a light pink to draw on the Gastly's tongue in the bottom section of the mouth. Using white paint and a small brush paint on two pointed triangles for the teeth. Let the paint dry before the next step.

Step 3:
Using your very thin brush outline the eyes, mouth and teeth. Then pop some ovals inside the eyes to make the pupils.

Step 4: (optional)
Spray your bauble with paint sealant following the packet instructions. This will help your paint stay on longer. But as always this is an optional step.

Step 5: 
Once everything is dry its now time to add the netting to  represent Gastly's smoke trail.
To do this I took the netting and cut a rectangle shape out of it. The size of your rectangle depends on how much you want the netting to flare out behind the bauble. Make it smaller if you will be displaying the bauble where there isn't too much room.
Then take one side of the netting fold it in a concertina effect before laying that against the bauble and glue it down when you are happy with the effect.
Since netting is springy you may need to hold the glued areas down a little while before putting the bauble down properly to dry.

Once the netting is dry you can hang your Gastly up with the rest of your Halloween decorations.

I hope everyone has as much fun with these as I did. I'm a big Pokemon fan and so wanted an excuse to hang a ghost Pokemon in with my other ghostly decorations.

This is a cross stitch design of the Pokemon Girafarig. This is a cute normal/psychic type with a very strange tail. I can't help thinking that the second head on the tail looks a little bit like a Chain Chomp from the Mario games. Though I have figured that it may be based a little on a Pushmi-Pullu due to its two heads or that the second head on the tail is a bit of a distraction tactic for this Pokemon making enemies unsure exactly how many opponents they are about to face.

This is a cross stitch design for the flying/electric type Pokemon Emolga. At the moment in Pokemon X/Y I keep coming across these Pokemon in sky battles where they proceed to be super effective against almost everything I have in my party. This is highly frustrating but I'm sure I will not be too upset when I find one of my own to use in sky battles. 

In the mean time I think I shall stick with my Joltik as my main electric type Pokemon.

 This is a cross stitch design of the Pokemon Mistrevious. Isn't she just adorable?
I had my Mistrevious for a very long time during my Pokemon Pearl playthough and could not bear to evolve it. I even took it to the Pokemon world championships. Although I was too late to actually register for the contest there were still many players eager to trade and battle all around the event. I had my fair share of wins and losses throughout the day with my Mistrevious being present in every team combination.

For the championships I had specially bred some starters to trade with other players throughout the day and was delighted at just how many trades I made. My favourite trade was a shiny Geodude which is a cool yellow colour which makes it appear to be made from solid gold.

This is a design of the lovely Pikachu from Pokemon. Many of the cross stitch designs I have found online are of Pikachus being cute and while thats really lovely I thought I'd do something different.
So in this picture Pikachu is doing a charge attack I did not base it on any one in particular but I would like to think its a volt tackle. Hes got quite a determined look on his face and looks like the attack is just about to make contact. Hes just got to jump or lean into a slam move from this pose.

 Spinda is just sweet isn't it? Even if it does look very confused all of the time. I did spend ages fighting them while collecting ash (you may remember that bit in Pokemon Ruby/Emerald where you need to collect ash from the grass to exchange for the valuable flute items) and tried to see if I could find one with a heart on it but the chances appear to be quite slim according to Spindas Bulbapedia article.
Not sure I will train one though, they get a great variety of moves but their stats aren't really much to write home about. I don't think it'd keep up with my friends fully EV trained, IV bred super Pokemon.

This is a cross stitch design of the latest addition to the Eevee evolution line Sylveon.

Not only is sylveon very cute it is also an example of the new fairy type pokemon. I have not yet gotten far enough in the game to get an eevee but when I do I am so training a Sylveon. I also like the shiny variation of this pokemon. Its a very simple change the pink and blue areas on the pokemon are reversed but that looks very nice. (much better than the many pokemon who seem to turn green when shiny)

Something which is very interesting is that to evolve an Eevee into Sylveon the player must use the Pokemon Ame minigames to increase its affection. (please note that affection is a very different stat to Happiness seen in previous games and has different effects) But don't feel daunted that Sylveon is still within reach the minigame is very easy. It is simply a case of rub the bottom screen with your stylus to pet the pokemon. The pokemon will have a happy face if it likes the area being petted and look concerned, worried or angry if you are touching an area it does not like. For example my lovely Beedril hates having its stingers touched and will make an attack stance at the screen to show its dislike. There are also minigames to play which ear Pokepuffs which are just little cakes. Each cake will also increase the pokemons affection but they will not eat it if they are full. Thats easy to tell too. The pokemon will turn its face away from the pokepuff if it does not wish to eat it. But come back later and it may be hungry again.
