Here is a cross stitch design of the super adorable Pokemon Eevee. I must admit that this is one of my favourites. Although its stats are quite poor in this form (meaning for competitive battling it is much better to evolve your Eevee) it does fair very well in baby battles.

Baby battles are for unevolved Pokemon (Pokemon without an evolution are not eligible) at level 5 meaning most Pokemon for baby battles need to be specially bred to hatch with moves or rely heavily on TMs. One of Eevees advantages in such a battle is its ability Adaptability which boosts the power of its Normal type moves. Considering this is an arena where every single hit point counts this is very useful.

However the last time I did any serious baby battles was in the Pokemon Stadium 2 game. I do hope this gets brought back somehow as a viable battle variant because it does have many different sets of tactics and Pokemon which may not be seen in regular battles due to their lack of power.

This is a cross stitch design of Sumomo from the anime Chobits. Sumomo is an adorable little Persocom. A Persocom is a computer which is in the shape of a person since she is so small she has the processing power of a small computer or netbook rather than the higher processing power of the larger human sized computers.
Sumomo is not only adorable in looks but in personality too. She is cheerful, energetic and occasionally plays a very small instrument as an alarm which is so cute.

If you havn't heard of this show it is a highly recomended anime to watch. It is available on youtube for free if you want to try it out. There are only 24 episodes so it won't be hard to get through like some of the multiseason epic animes about (thinking of Dragonball Z here with 291 episodes and 16 films!)

Equestria girls - Fluttershy cross stitch design

Equestria girls - Fluttershy cross stitch design

This is a cross stitch design of Fluttershy in her Fall Formal outfit featured in the Equestria girls movie. 
The hardest bit of this outfit to sketch was her shoes. I do wonder why on each character it seems that the boots are the most detailed item they have. But I suppose each character in this world has quite large shoes they must be a important feature of the characters design. 

I have been checking out the dolls for Equestria girls and I am not sure what to make of them. 
The dolls have the pony ears and long piece of hair which is shown in the transformation sequence but the clothing the doll has is not very much like any of the outfits seen in the movie. This is a shame really because the Fall Formal outfits are all quite pretty. 

However each doll does have a few outfits to choose from. For Fluttershy the basic doll has a cute blue miniskirt with butterfly patterns while the deluxe version has a choice of two party dresses. I must admit the blue off the shoulder dress is something I might wear myself (should it ever come in human size that is)

Upcycling worn out Christmas Baubles

Hello everyone did you all have a lovely Christmas Holiday? 

This year I moved house and had no Christmas decorations of my own so I got a selection of baubles and tinsel from family members which is very kind of them. 

However some of these baubles were from the back of the attic and a bit scuffed, dented and untidy. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth I used some of my craft stash to make the baubles look nice. Heres a few examples of some very easy ways to make an old set of baubles look brand new. 

These two baubles had a scuff/ discoloured area area around the middle. I simply glued a complementary ribbon around the middle to hide it and made a bow out of more ribbon to glue on over the top of this. The ribbon was placed to cover the join where the two ends of the first ribbon met to make it look neat. 

This bauble was not damaged but just a little plain and did not match with the other colours on the Christmas tree. So a good friend of mine kindly painted this bird on the bauble using glitter glue over a sticker stencil. 

Before you begin it will be wise to set up an area for your bauble to dry. You wouldn't want it rolling over the table and spoiling all of your hard work (and perhaps also the tablecloth). The baubles should be painted on one side then left to dry before painting the other side to avoid smudging the side you had already painted. I rested each bauble inside a cup to keep it still as it dried which worked quite well. 

These two baubles were covered in small scratches and bumps where the silver colour underneath  was showing through. It seems my Dads cat had been playing with these one Christmas. 

All I did with these is cut out a whole bunch of heart shapes out of felt and carefully glued them over the most scuffed areas then added additional felt shapes in the gaps  so that the shapes are evenly spaced all over the bauble.
If you want to try this yourself its very simple you can use a complementary or contrasting colour and any shape you can think of. If you have one large scuff try gluing on one large felt shape to cover it up.

My 5 stitching New Years Resolutions

1. Put away my pins.

Sounds like common sense right? But the amount of times I have left a pin someplace and found it days later with my foot is just a few times too often. My housemate brought me pin cushion as a Christmas gift and I wonder if this was a little hint.

2. Finish an unfinished project.

If you ask a room full of stitchers who has an unfinished project they are not currently working on most people will say yes. There have been tales of kids getting their birth samplers for their 18^th birthday, stitchers with boxes full of half finished kits or the wedding present stitch finished for a couples ruby wedding anniversary. So take a look through your projects now the Christmas present rush is over and we still have many long cold nights ahead and see if theres anything which can be finished.

I have a few birthday cards I did not finish in time for the recipients birthday but if I get them finished I will be able to send them this year. (and they won't suspect it was supposed to be last years card)

3. Have a crafty clear out.

This is actually very hard for some crafters, you just never know if you will need a particular piece of ribbon, a lovely set of beads or just the right thread for an occasion. So perhaps start by looking for items you think you may never use. I will be starting with my fairly large magazine collection. If its likely not to be used its going to be swapped with my stitching friends or donated to some beginning stitchers I know (like my adorable niece who will just love some new kits to try out)

Of course once the space has been cleared it leaves a little more room in your stash for items you will definitely use (or ones you just pick up throughout the year)

4. Make my cards for the year early

Every year I always end up rushing my birthday cards, Christmas cards and other greetings, often stitching until midnight the day before it needs to be sent. However this year I have decided it should be different. Since Christmas kits are often on sale in January I am going to snap up a few now and stitch them while the nights are still cold so they are all ready to send later in the year. It is also handy to have some spare cards for other occasions too so there is no need to rush. Making them in advance does not mean you cannot still make lovely individual cards for the very special people in your life it just means you have more time to do them.

5. Teach someone else to stitch

Many stitchers remember fondly the person who taught them to stitch. The person with enough kindness and patience to help thread needles, show how to interpret patterns and share a little of their stash. So why not pass it on? Is there someone near you who watches eagerly as you sew? Or someone looking for a new hobby? Even if there is nobody near you who wants to learn you can always share your knowledge on online forums or even show your stitching friends a new technique you have learned. Stitching is an art, a skill and a valuable hobby so why not pass it on?

Happy new year - Whole stitches only Alphabet in a single colour

Happy new year - Whole stitches only Alphabet in a single colour

This is a cross stitch alphabet which uses whole stitches only and only one colour. Though you are welcome to mix up the colours a bit or add a different colour into the white spaces but thats up to all you fabulously creative stitchers.
I drew this originally to help design a large Happy New Year sign including big chunky letters which could also be added to bunting should a matching set be required. I have a friend who needs to stitch for every occasion and wanted to forfill her request with something very simple so she wouldn't be stitching all the way into January.

Christmas Bauble themed motif cross stitch designs

Christmas Bauble themed motif cross stitch designs

This is a collection of christmassy decorated bauble designs. These can be used for small and easy card designs or for Christmas decorations for your tree.
If you stitch these designs try making them on plastic canvas or backing them with a matching piece of coloured felt and ribbon to hang them on the tree. Or as a funky twist to the classic Christmas card make them as a decoration and hang them on the card so your lucky friend or family member can have a card and a decoration all in one.

If you don't have much time (sewing Christmas cards until the last posting date are you?) why not take just the small motifs inside each bauble for each card. When coupled with a simple Christmassy stamp, sticker, glitter or cut card shape it can make a very quick cross stitched card.
I definitely want to stitch the present and the candy cane on my cards since I am also running out of time. :)
